Historical Details :

Sanchor city was called as Satyapur and Satyapuri in the olden days. Teerth has been established during the period of Bhagwan Mahaveer. It is descibed in the "Jag Chinatmani Strotra', assumed to be composed by Shri Gautam Swamiji, the 1st Ganadhar of Mahaveer Bhagwan. Induced by the preechings of acharya Shri Jajjig Suriji, King Nahad built a huge temple and the golden idol of Prabhu Veer was established by the honarary hands of Acharya Shri in the temple during VS 130. This is mentioned in 'Vividh Teerth Kalp' written by Shri Jinprabhu Suriji in 14th century. It is also described in this book that the non-Jaines were felt jealous of this famous temple. Many attempts were made to damage this temple, viz. by the king of malva in 11th century of VS, by the Mughals in VS 1348, by Ulludh Khan, the brother of Allauddin Khilji in VS 1356; but failed to do any damage to the idol. At last Allauddin Khilji personally and took the miraculous idol along with him to Delhi in VS 1361. Since then, that idol has not been found. In the 11th century of VS, kavishwar Shri Dhanpal has described the powers of the Moolnayak idol as "of the attractive idol towards whom the pilgrims keeps on looking at" in his poetry collections' "Satyapuriyamandan Mahavirotsah". During 13th century of VS king of Kannoj has made an wooden temple here at this terth place. Shri Alhad, the dandnayak of Gurjar king Ajaypal has established an idol of Bhagwan Parshwanath in the temple in this perid. An old Mosque, having carving of VS 1322, is still present referring the renovation of the temple of Shri mahaveer Bhagwan by Shri Chhada Shah on Vaisakh Shukla 13 of VS 1322. That temple is seems to be converted into mosque by the Muslim attackers in their reign.
