This place was the shelter place for wife and son of Chauhan king Shri Pujaji, viz princess Saudhi and Bajaji respectively, after the death of the king while fighting with the Muslim invaders. They were guarded by Deepa Bheel on Thundala tekari (hill). Bajaji made capitol of his kingdom and named this place as Vav in VS 1244. He built this ancient temple and established the idol of Shri Ajitnath Bhagwan being transferred from Tharad by king Thirpal Dharu, fearing it to be looted by the then invader Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji.

They replaced it with a dummy idol covered by golden layer on it. Vav village was established by Bajaji, son of Shri Pujaji, as a mark of his shelter during their worst period.
