Hastinapur has its historical as well as endow mental importance. This is the place where Aadi teerthankar prabhu Adinathji has concluded fasting lasted for 400 days by drinking sugarcane juice from Shreyanshkumar. It has the opportunity of being the place of 12 kalyanak (Chyavan, Janm, Deeksha & Kevalgyan kalyanak of Shri Shantinath, Shri Kunthunath & Shri Adinath prabhu). Samvasaran of Bhagwan Mallinath took place here. Muni Suvratswami, Bhagwan Parshwanath & Mahaveer Swami on this holy place, uttered spiritual speech. Prayer starts at 8.00 am in morning with Prakshalan till 5.00 pm. The prayer timing in the nearby Digambar temple is 7.00 in morning.

Speciality of Jain Teerth :

Yugadidev Shri Adishwar Bhagwan came to this city 400 days after taking Deeksha on Vaisakh Shukla Tritiya. He hasn't taken water and food during this period. People came in large to see him (darshan). Prince Sheyanskumar got the knowledge of (Jati-smaran-gyan) of food donation after seeing his forefather. He requested Pabhu to take Ikshu Ras (sugar cane juice) for putting an end to his 400 days long fasting. Prabhu drank the ikshu ras by the hands of Shreyanskumar. Everyone was pleased at this incident and the spirit of Parna after Varshitap started from that day. Since Prabhu ended his fasting by drinking Ikshu Ras this day was later on called as Akshay Tritiya. This holy place has the opportunity of being the twelve kalyanaks (including four kalyanaks- Chyavan, Janm, Deeksha & Kevalgyan, each of the three Bhagwan Shri Shantinath, Shri Kunthunath and Shri Arahnath). Samvasaran of Shri Mallinath Bhagwan took place here also. Prabhu has turned six greater Kings towards Jainism after giving them the Pratibodh (suggestions). Shri Munisuvrat Swami, Shri Parshwanath and Charam Teerthankar Shri Mahaveer Bhagwan have also visited this place. Parshwa Prabhu has made King Swambhu the follower of Jainism, who in later stage became the first Ganadhar of Prabhu. Totally there has been 12 Chakravarties in INDIA out of them 6 was born at this holy place. Shri Parasuram of Ramayan days was also born here. This was the capitol city of The Pandvas & Kaurvas. Huge function is celebrated on Kartik Poornima & Vaisakh Shukla Tritiya in the Shwetambar temple while it is organised in between Kartik Shukla Ashtami to Poornima in the Digambar temple.

Historical Details :

History of this teerth begins from the period of Yugadidev Shri Adishwar Bhagwan. It is also described as Gajpur, Hastinapur, Nagpur, Asandivat, Brahmasthal, Shanti Nagar and Kunjarpur etc in Shashtras. Bhagwan Adinath has allotted Padanapur & Hastinapur estates to his son Shri Bahubali. Bahubali was ruling Podanapur while his son Shri Somyash ruled Hastinapur. His yonger brother Shreyanskumar has performed the Parna of Prabhu's fasting at this place. At that time he (Shreyanskumar) built a ratna stoop (gem pillar) and established the Charanpadukas (footprints) of Shri Adinath Bhagwan. The four Kalyanaks (Chyavan, Janm, Deeksha & Kevalgyan) of Shri Shantinath Bhagwan, Shri Kunthunath Bhagwan and Shri Arahnath Bhagwan took place here after the days of Shri Adinath Bhagwan. Three stoops (pillars) were constructed in memory of these incidents. King Shivraj has also constructed a pillar in memory of Bhagwan Mahaveer after accepting Jainism inspired by the teachings of Prabhu Veer. Grandson of Samrat Ashok, king Samprati has built many temples here during his empire. The ancient temple & the stoops are not present today since this city has come across through many ups & downs. Acharya Shri Yakshadevsuriji (386 years before Vikram), Acharya Shri Siddhsuriji (247 years before Vikram), Shri Ratnaprabhsuriji IV (in VS 199), Acharya Shri Kakkasuriji IV (around VS 235) and many other achryas have visited this holy place along with their following sangh. King Kumarpal has also visited this place after conquering Kuru Empire. Acharya Shri Jinprabhsuriji has come on the visit of this place with his sangh & large number of followers from Delhi during 1335. Temples of Shri Shantinath Bhagwan, Shri Kunthnath Bhagwan, Shri Arahnath Bhagwan & Shri Mallinath Bhagwan and temple of Shri Ambika Devi was present during those days. Hastinapur city was present on the bank of holy river Ganga. Shri Vijaysagarji has described about the presence of 5 stoops (pillars) & 5 Jin idols at the time of his visit to this place in 17th century of VS. Acharya of Kharatargatchh Shri Jinchandrasuriji has described 4 stoops (pillars) at the time of his visit in VS 1627. Muni Shri Soubhagya Vijayji has visited this place in 18th century of VS and described about three stoops (pillars). The Shwetambar temple is renovated recently & the re-establishment (pratishtha) took place on Margshirsh Shukla 10 of VS 2021. Re-establishment (pratishtha) of Digambar temple took place in VS 1863.

Management Dharamshala :

In dharmashala managed by shwetambar trust consist of 400 rooms in it with the facility of Breakfast/ Bhata, Lunch & Dinner. 100 delux and 300 general rooms are provided by the Digambar mandir trust. Another dharmashala of 38 delux rooms is under construction. Food is provided as per the intimation.

The holy place is at a distance of 36 kms from Meeruth, 110 kms from Delhi & 65 kms from Muzaffarnagar. Nearby railway station is Meeruth. Buses, Taxis and other means of travelling are available easily from Meeruth. Buses are available for Agra & Delhi from Meeruth. Bus is available for Hastinapur teerth from Bhainsali roadways ecvery hour from 7.00 am to 8.30 pm. Return buses for Delhi and Meeruth are access every half an hour. One bus leaves for Shri Tijara teerth in the morning at 6.15 am.
