As per a myth, Parmar vanshi King of Abu Shri Prahaladan has melted an idol which was braught from Abu Delvada Teerth and made an idol of Nandi for Achaleshwar Mahadev temple. After this incidence leprosy affected him. Efforts were made for curing him but all were ineffective and the bad effects remain as it is. At last he hide himself in a forest where he met Acharya Shri Shalibhadrasurishwarji. King Prahaladan told him everything about himself and asked for his suggestions so that he can be cured. Acharya told him to build a temple of Bhagwan Parshwanath and to take bath with the water pored on the idol for bathing. King followed the instructions and the temple was erected. Idol of Bhagwan Parshwanath was established with a huge celebration. The king utilised the water used for bathing prabhu idol as an ointment; miracle took place and he got cured from leprosy. Here onwards the prabhu idol in the temple was called as Pahalviya Parshwanath. King accepted Jainism and wrote many Dharm Granth among which "Parshwa Parakramvyayog" is famous till today. Yugpradhan Acharya Shri Somsundar Surishwarji was born in this city in VS 1430. This city has the honor of being the birthplace of Akbar pratibodhak Acharya Shri Heervijay Surishwarji, who was born in VS 1583. The women upashray in front of the main temple is erected on his birthplace. |

Shri Prahaladan, brother of Parmarvanshi king of Abu Shri Dharavarshdev, has established this city on his own name. Later on this turned into Palanpur. After miracle, king Prahaladan became a Jain and did many religious work. He built the temple and honorary Korantgatchhacharya Shri Kakkasurishwarji has established the idol of Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan on Falgun Shukla Panchami of VS 1274. In its initial days this temple was known as Prahaladan Parshwanath temple, now is famous as Pallaviya Parshwanath temple. |
