Founded by Shri Naradji, this city has much importance, as the teerth is said to be established by Pradyumna Kumar, the son of Shri Krishna. As per a famous myth, (also described in Teerth Mala written by Lavanyasamay) shashtratha was held among great Jain scholar Acharya Shri Yashobhadra Surishwarji and Great Yogi Tapesarji in the king's court. During the competition, Yashobhadra Surishwarji has created a temple of Shri Adinath Bhagwan by his miraculous power of sadhana while Tapesarji has brought an Shaiv temple through space. At last Tapesarji losed to Acharyashri. He then accepted deeksha from Acharya Shri Yashobhadra Surishwarji and later on became popular as Kesav Suriji (Vasudevacharya). Both the temples are still present in Narlai and are called as Jasia & Kesia temples. Shri Keshav Suriji preached king of Hathundi Shri Vidagdharaj & converted him into Jainism. The portraits of Shri Yashobhadra Surishwarji & SHri Keshav Suriji have been established in their memory as they have attained swarga at this holy place. Shri Vijaysen Suriji, the Shishya of Akbar pratibodhak Acharya Shri Heervijay Suriji, was born here and the post of Panyas & Upanyas was awarded to him at this holy teerthplace.
