Jain Idol  :

Idol of Shri Mahaveer Bhagwan is made of bricks, sand and calcium, having bloodish red colour ( rata) and hence also called as Rata Mahaveerji, about 135 cms in height, the idol is in padmasan position. The Lanchhan of Bhagwan Mahaveerji, the Lion, has its head of Elephant.

As per Shashtras, this city was also known as Hastikundi, Hathiundi, Hastkundika etc. According to Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan ki parampara written by muni Shri Gyansundarji Maharaj, inspired by Acharya Shri Siddhsensuriji, Shri Veerdev shreshthi this temple was made in V.S. 370. Idol of Shri Mahaveer Bhagwan is made of bricks, sand and calcium, having bloodish red colour ( rata) and hence also called as Rata Mahaveerji, about 135 cms in height, the idol is in padmasan position. The Lanchhan of Bhagwan Mahaveerji, the Lion, has its head of Elephant. This is not seen anywhere else. Vidagdharaj, the son of King Harivardhan has accepted Jainism and renovated this temple in V.S. 973. The idol made of rosy coloured Sangamarmar of Bhagwan is present in the basement. The main temple is surrounded by 24 Small temples (Derees) having idols of 24 Teerthankars. Shri Xaverchandji Kamdar from Bijapur and others started renovation of this temple in V.S. 1942 and again established (pratistha) in V.S. 2006 in association of Acharya Shri Vijayvallbhsuriji Maharaj Saheb. Wall of temple has models of Shatrunjay, Girnar, Sammetshikhar and other famous teerths.
