Ancient teerth situated in Modhera village. Shri Bappabhatt Suriji accepted Deeksha from Acharya Shri Siddhsen Suriji. It has the honor of being the birthplace of Shri Hemchandracharya (famous as Kalikal Sarvagya). The temple of Bhagwan Surya, constructed by Solanki king Shri Bheemdev in 1026-27, is also present in Modhera village and is famous for its artistic design. |

This is the origin place of Modhera Gatchh. Kalikal sarvagya Shri Hemchndracharyaji belongs to Modh Vansh (race). Famous dharm prabhavak Malwa king pratibodhak Jainacharya Shri Bappabhattacharya has accepted Deeksha at this holy place. He used to visit this place regularly; wherever he might be, by airways with the help of Akashgamini vidya. He has converted the king of Kannoj into Jain Dharm by preaching (pratibodh) at this place. Mahatma Gandhi also belongs to Modh Vansh (race) and this is the birthplace of his ancesters. |

According to the specification mentioned in "Prabhavak Charitra" Shri Bappabhatt Suriji has accepted Deeksha from Acharya Shri Siddhsen Suriji here in VS 807and on this basis this teerth place is said to be established long before 9th century of VS. This is also the birthplace of Kalikal sarvagya Shri Hemchandracharya. Ruins of a Jain temple is seen outside the village. Many padmasanastha Jin idols can be seen in the small temples (devkulika's) present near the pond in front of the main temple. |
